Design Studio challenges students to analyze, speculate, and predict new design paradigms by producing design works related to the emerging collaborative consumption movement. This course is designed to help students develop their individual skills, knowledge, and sensibilities in design, and to support students in determining the direction of their own education based on their own personal preferences. Long-term and short-term projects addressing real-life design situations and requiring competence in solving design problems. Project work will be undertaken both individually and in teams. The design studio will encourage students to develop a framework for understanding the role of design systems, tools, and objects as cultural artifacts and their reflection on social diversity. In particular, students will focus on the cultural experiences of collaborative consumption as they are stimulated through design.
